What kinds of students thrive at Horizons Academy?
Horizons serves students with a variety of learning styles. Many are working on or above grade level and simply thrive in a smaller classroom with strong academics and more individualized attention. Others may need help bridging a few academic gaps or have mild learning differences such as dyslexia, auditory processing, attention, or executive functioning needs.
Horizons is an academic program, not a therapeutic or behavioral program. We provide traditional academic instruction in a smaller classroom environment, with the added benefit of more individualized attention and support when students need it.
I cannot commit to more than 1 day per week. Is that okay?
Yes. Our program is designed with flexibility in mind to help families. However, we will always recommend 2-3 days for consistent education and the development of friendships among peers.
My child does not have an intellectual disability, but rather a physical disability. Is your program a good fit?
Absolutely. A physical disability does not prevent a student from being considered for enrollment at Horizons. If our academic program and learning environment meet your child’s needs, we welcome the opportunity to learn more about your student and discuss any reasonable accommodations that may be needed for successful participation.

Is your program religious-based?
Horizons is welcoming to families from all backgrounds. While we are not affiliated with a church or denomination, faith and Christian values are naturally part of who we are as educators and may occasionally be reflected in classroom conversations, music, or curriculum.
We do not require families to sign a statement of faith, participate in formal religious instruction, or belong to a particular faith. Our focus is on providing strong academics while creating a school community built around kindness, integrity, respect, responsibility, and treating others well.
Families do not have to share our personal beliefs to feel at home at Horizons.
Do you provide home study resources for parents/guardians?
Yes. As part of your enrollment and tuition, we provide academic materials for you to use at home to reinforce concepts being taught in the classroom.
